Center for Evidence–Based Medicine and Clinical Research (EBMCR) is a Bangladesh-based, not-for-profit international research organization dedicated to advancing healthcare quality and population health through rigorous scientific research, evidence synthesis, innovation, and knowledge translation. EBMCR invites applications for Research Associate, Research Assistant, and Research Intern positions under the project “Burden of Neonatal Infectious Diseases.” The project aims to establish a birth cohort study in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), Bangladesh for assessing burdens of neonatal infectious diseases and will examine how prenatal smoking affects the health of newborns and infants, particularly their risk of developing infectious diseases during the neonatal period and beyond. The cohort will be further followed up to assess long-term health consequence among newborns exposed to prenatal smoking.

Available positions for the project “Burden of Neonatal Infectious Diseases”:

1) Research Associate–1 position; 

2) Research Assistant–2 positions; 

3) Research Interns–2 positions

Work location: Rajshahi (Hospital-based and Field-based), including Pediatric Wards of RMCH.

Working hour: Full-time

Contract type and duration: Short-term contractual service agreement basis; and duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension up to 1 year subject to availability of funds and performance. 

Remunerations: BDT 22,000~45,000/- per month (consolidated). No other benefits will be provided.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Master of Public Health (MPH), Biostatistics/Applied Statistics, or equivalent degrees from a reputed university with excellent academic record.

• Professional 3–5 years clinical or public health research experience, preferably in conducting hospital-based study on maternal and newborn health, perinatal health, childhood infectious diseases (ARI, pneumonia, neonatal sepsis, or meningitis), or prenatal smoke exposure.

• Ability to communicate effectively with study participants.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify eligible mothers & neonates, and explain the study objectives, procedures, potential benefits & risks, and obtain written informed consent according to approved ethical procedures.

• Conduct baseline survey interviews and follow-up assessments using study-approved questionnaires, hospital/medical records, maternal & child health handbook, & vaccination records.

• Assist in maternal urine sample collection and recording of its testing results and documentation.

• Perform data entry, verification, cleaning, database management, and quality-control procedures.

• Coordinate with healthcare professionals, field research staff, and other project team members.

• Provide daily work updates as well as promptly report participant concerns, adverse events, protocol deviations, data-quality problems, or other significant study-related issues to the designated supervisor.

Additional responsibilities for Research Associate position:

• Contribute to research proposal development, evidence synthesis, epidemiological data analysis using STATA/R, manuscript writing, grant applications, and dissemination of research findings

• Participate in research training, team meetings, monitoring activities, and data-quality assurance activities, as well as actively participate in research learning and presentation.

• Perform other research-related duties reasonably assigned by the Research Director/Principal Investigator.
